Standard Machines
Although updated models were later produced (the White/Green Machines and the 222), the Standard model Featherweight 221 machine remains the most popular of the Featherweight range. With only detail changes - many cosmetic - the machine remained in production for over a quarter of a century.

We are proud to offer the following specially selected models

This early American made machine has superb classic style decals but perhaps more than the usual number of marks on the bed.
Let me stress that these affect only the protective outer lacquer layer of the finish and do not extend into the paintwork itself.
Good, strong box with no odor..
Machine comes with a range of attachments/feet, a bound photocopy of the original full-size handbook and a packet of Schmetz needles.
Fully cleaned inside and out, serviced and
sew tested before leaving the workshop.
Electrically tested for your safety. Pictures are of the actual machine. Any bright marks are from the flash - all flaws are always described in full.
Price includes comprehensive insured air shipping to your door
This machine. as with all other Featherweights I sell, comes with three vital pieces of special documentation.
1) A certificate giving Singer's official statement of manufacturing date.
2) A guarantee that the machine contains no modern reproduction parts.
3) A dated certificate of electrical safety
.

Here’s a machine which has obviously done quite a bit of work in its time but, fortunately, in the hands of an owner whom, I’m guessing, kept it regularly serviced and cleaned - for it needed a minimum amount of adjustment to bring it back to the Factory settings during its workshop-time.
It features the late-model paperclip decals – there’s some thinning at the front edge.
Paintwork is generally good with a fine shine but with perhaps slightly more than the usual number of pin marks and a couple of match-head-size flaws at the rear to the protective lacquer that’s done its job and prevented any damage to the original paintwork

Totally complete late paperclip decals, perfect chrome and a fine gloss to the paint.
Just a few small marks to the top protective lacquer at the rear of the bed.
The machine was originally fitted with Singer’s graduated stitch plate but there is some chrome plate lifting on this – very rare on a Singer machine of this period.
I’m going to leave the stitch plate in situ but also supply a standard stitch plate with good plating in case the new owner would like to swap the two.
Good strong box with zero odor

Here is a fabulous-condition machine which I was tempted to give a full 9 rating.
Then I noticed a slight flaw on the extension table – hardly shows on the pictures but it’s there and I need to tell you.
It’s a slight line of crazing which occasionally occurs on these machines and I believe they came out of the factory just like this, for the paint is as solid as ever and certainly not something that will deteriorate in time.
The paint is superb with virtually no pin marks at all and totally complete decals.
Live with that slight blemish and you have a fabulous machine at a considerable saving.
That ugly dealer sticker on the rear will be painlessly removed during the machine’s workshop time.
And for the romantics amongst you, this machine shares a birthday with St Valentine.

Just the slight thinning of one line over a couple of inches on the front decal prevent me giving this machine a higher condition rating.
But if you can live with that, here’s a clean, bright, shiny Featherweight that would be equally at home in the sewing room, at class or on a collector’s shelf.
And for the serious seamstress there’s the benefit of an original Singer graduated stitch plate.

Far fewer pin marks on the bed of this machine than are normally found, but we do have thinning of the decal over a couple of inches at the front of the bed.
Chrome, of course, is perfect and the paint has that much-admired deep gloss – check out the reflections in the extension table on the photographs.
I’ve just noticed that in the picture the bobbin winder has not been replaced. This, of course, will be done during the machine’s workshop time.

Good solid, strong box with zero odor.

They don’t come any nicer than this.
Totally perfect late-paperclip decals and paintwork virtually devoid of any pin marks.
Chrome is perfect, of course and, being a 1955 model, we have Singer’s graduated stitch plate.
Highly recommended machine for show or go.
Sorry about the short description there, but the better they are, the less there is to write about.

Here’s one for the serious Featherweight fan.
It’s a late-model machine withe paperclip decals and Singer’s original graduated stitch plate.
Let’s get back to those decals for a moment. They are simply 1))% complete with no thinning or marking at all.
And the paintwork is equally great.
Of course, we have the ultra-light pin marks on the bed (thus the minus sign added to the condition rating). But these in no way compromise the actual paintwork, being just on the surface of the protective layer.
The paintwork has a great jet-black gloss.
Chrome, as ever on all of my machines, is perfect - making this a real beauty.

I’m tempted to copy and past the description from S605 (above), for this machine is virtually identical except for its date.
But I’ll re-cap: great paintwork; totally complete decals; perfect chrome.
Yes, we’ve been lucky in finding such great machines this month

Yes, I’ve been really lucky in the last month to chance upon a number of top-quality Featherweights with absolute minimum signs of previous use.
At first I thought we had another solid 9-condition here, but close inspection of the extension table reveals some small paint flaws – probably original to the machine when it was new.
These appear to affect only the top protective layer and not go through into the paint beneath.
And that paint has a superb gloss – please check out the reflections in the photographs.
Live with those small  flaws and here’s a superb-condition machine available with a financial saving.
Yes, of course, this 221 comes with its correct graduated stitch plate and the late paperclip decals.

I’m sure most will recognise that this, unlike most of my offerings, is an American-made machine.
But I bought it from the family of the original owner and it’s been in the UK since new.
By checking the date, which is just before Singer’s main plant in Scotland re-started production just after WWII, it’s my guess that this machine was brought over from the USA to help fill the demand for new machines at the time in Britain.
And it’s survived those years remarkably well.
We have totally complete and unworn decals and just a minimum of light pin marks on the base.
Add to that the correct-for-year scroll faceplate and the result is a highly desirable machine

Great decals with just one small area of thinning over a couple of inches at the front.
Perfect chrome and a good, high-gloss, finish.
The downside is a number of match-head-size flaws in the top protective layer – not anything that will affect sewing performance at all.
And, talking about that, the machine was retro-fitted at some time in its life with the ultimate Singer stitch plate – graduated and with the anti-glare finish.
Good solid, strong box with zero odor.
