Singer Featherweight Centennials
Singer, rightfully proud of its company history, decided to celebrate its centenary in 1951 by giving all machines made that year a special badge. This was the standard Singer emblem of the time but with the inscription "A Century of Sewing Service 1851-1951" around the outside of the oval.
These "limited edition" models mad e for only one year are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Most have 1951 serial numbers but authenticated models with 1948 to 1952 serial numbers have been located - suggesting that the company held vast stocks and simply badged machines just prior to dispatch. The Centennial Featherweights are mechanically identical to the standard 221 - and only the badge identifies them cosmetically.

We are proud to offer the following selected models

For the past few months I’ve been complaining about the lack of good Centennials, but all is now back on track.
Paintwork on this machine is superb, with just the minimum of light pin marks, and we have great decals, too, with just a little thinning on a single line of the base.
Of course, being a Centennial, we have the floral faceplate and the all-important anniversary badge is in great condition.
Highly recommended machine for the showroom shelf or serious piecing.
Good strong box with no odor.
Machine comes with a range of attachments/feet, a bound photocopy of the original full-size handbook - plus the original itself - and a packet of Schmetz needles.
Fully cleaned inside and out, serviced and sew tested before leaving the workshop. Electrically tested for your safety.
Pictures are of the actual machine. Any bright marks are from the flash - all flaws are always described in full.
Price includes comprehensive insured express air shipping to your door.

This machine. as with all other Featherweights I sell, comes with three vital pieces of special documentation.
1) A certificate giving Singer's official statement of manufacturing date.
2) A guarantee that the machine contains no modern reproduction parts.
3) A dated certificate of electrical safety.
According to Singer's records this machine was produced on May 16, 1951
Code: C159

This second Centennial has almost the same description as the first but in this case there are virtually no pin marks to mar the jet-black gloss of the paintwork.
Again, the floral plate and the anniversary badge are in perfect condition.
The only thing that prevents me giving this machine a solid 9 rating is the slightest thinning on one line of the decal

The small print
Please note that all 221 machines come with free air shipping and comprehensive insurance. This takes, on average, six working days. However, it is possible to upgrade delivery to an express air service (three to four working days) for an additional $35

Correction. ALL machines will now travel by AIR EXPRESS at no extra charge

I source most of my machines in Europe which, although having the advantage or providing the very best examples , means that most are 240 volt and need either a small converter box or a proper conversion to 110 volt. To explore these options please go to Motors
